One year of the Porec Sunny office
The Porec Sunny office opened its doors exactly one year ago, and during that period, more than 250 citizens used the service of free support and technical assistance in the process of the solar (photovoltaic) power plants installation.
With the rise in energy prices, unstable and changing conditions on the energy market and the increasingly obvious negative impacts that climate change brings with it, citizens are showing increasing interest in setting up their own solar (PV) power plants, many of them do not know how to start, and they had a lot of questions during the project realization.
The most frequently asked questions of citizens are:
What documentation and steps are required to install a solar (PV) power plant and where to start?
What are the conditions must be met in order for someone to be able to install their own solar (PV) power plant?
How to determine the required the size or capacity of the solar system and how to estimate the investment cost?
Which national bodies and institutions publish tenders for the co-financing of solar (PV) power plants?
What documents are required to apply for the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund tenders?
and there are more frequent questions related to energy communities, as a form of association and connection of citizens into a whole that will produce electricity, share it and as such participate in the energy market.
All Porec citizens who contact the Sunny office have a Guidebook at their disposal: "Become an energy producer and consumer - Produce solar energy on your roof!", which, along with explanations of basic terms, very simply and briefly guides users step by step through the process of realizing their own solar (PV) power plant.
Also, the Porec Sunny office informs its citizens about tenders, news, amendments to the law, and all other important information. "The Sunny office is not a place where citizens come only once, as they progress in obtaining the necessary documentation, they return several times for advice on the next step," said Gordana Lalic, the CEO of the Municipal Company „Parentium d.o.o.“, which has the role of project coordinator.
The Sunny office is located at Pionirska 1, second floor. Office hours for citizens are on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., and on Tuesdays from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., with mandatory appointment registration by e-mail: suncani.ured@porec.hr.
The opening of „Porec Sunny office“ was realized as part of the Balkan Solar Roofs project implementation, funded by the European Climate Initiative (EUKI) of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK). The total project budget is €442,294.00, while the Town of Porec-Parenzo budget is €90,574.60 with a co-financing intensity of 90%.
„Energy transition mostly happens on the „doorstep“. Empowering citizens as active participants in the energy market must become one of the priorities of Local self-government units. The great interest of our citizens shows that they are aware of their role and responsibility in the energy and climate sustainable development of our city, and that is why, although the project implementation ended on November 30, 2023, the Sunny office will continue its work as long as there is interest in it, and will continue to be financed with the European Union funds, both through already existing implementation projects, and through new future project applications.“, said Porec mayor Loris Persuric.
