Balkan Solar Roofs project launched in Poreč-Parenzo
The conference is the beginning of intensive implementation of activities within the project itself, the main goal of which is to empower local self-government units to be able to encourage and promote the use of solar energy, strengthen and transfer knowledge about energy communities, and encourage the use of participatory urban solar energy. Mayor Loris Peršurić welcomed the participants on behalf of the host city, who added that thanks to "green" projects, Poreč today has the Poreč E-City bus, a public lighting system that is continuously equipped with new, energy-efficient lighting fixtures, and water purification systems that protect the sea, and the City continuously invests in the energy renovation of public buildings, even those under the protection of the conservation department. That is why he is happy that Poreč has been approved for another "green" project that aims to emphasize the importance of renewable energy sources, the mayor concluded.
The City of Poreč-Parenzo recognised the importance of installing solar (photovoltaic) power plants back in 2014, when it installed photovoltaic power plants with a total power of 100 kW and solar collector systems for the production of domestic hot water on a total of eight public buildings. To date, slightly more than 1,000,000 kWh of "green" electricity and slightly more than 40,000 kWh of thermal energy have been produced in this way, which means that our environment has remained cleaner by almost 278 tCO2, says Gordana Lalić, director of the city's company Parentium d.o.o. for city construction and energy efficiency and environmental protection activities, and the coordinator of this project for Poreč.
One of the activities within the implementation of the project will be the establishment of the so-called "Sun office of the City of Poreč-Parenzo". The solar office will be a place where citizens, with prior notice, will be able to get basic information and answers to questions: What is a solar (photovoltaic) power plant and how does it work? What documents and steps are required for the installation of a solar (photovoltaic) power plant? What prerequisites must be met in order for someone to install their own solar (photovoltaic) power plant? Which national bodies and institutions publish tenders for the co-financing of solar (photovoltaic) power plants? All details related to the establishment of the office itself and the way it works, which is planned for the beginning of 2023, will be informed in a timely manner, concluded Lalić.
